Release Updates
VER 0.25 – Finished two categories – 25 Kitchenware Items + 44 Dinnerware Items + 9 Items that fit into both = 78 New Place-able Static Items
What does this mod do?
If you are an Obsessive Compulsive Decorator, you can now safety spend hours fine-tuning the placement of inventory items without worry. No more concerns about Dogmeat passing gas and knocking over a drinking glass on the other side of the settlement..
This mod “Converts” inventory items (Food, Junk, Equipment, etc) into decorative static objects.
Objects CANNOT be knocked over. Check the animated gif above.
Objects CAN be moved around. Use the crafting menu, like any other settlement object.
Objects CAN be stored into your workshop for later use. *DO NOT SCRAP*
How does it work?
In the workshop crafting menu, you will find the OCDecorator main category under the decorations section. OCDecorator will be broken down into many different categories in an attempt to make navigating the HUNDREDS of miscellaneous objects easier. Right now only two categories have been finished, Kitchen and Dinning goodies.
Every static object that you create requires a non-static version as a construction material.
Example: If you want to make a static Coffee Cup, You are required to have at least one coffee cup in your inventory or workshop storage.
That is it, it looks and acts like any of the other objects that you can create from the workshop crafting menu.
Known Issues/Bugs
scrapping your newly created static object will always results in nothing returned. I want it to return the object on scrapping but so far I have had zero luck. It will not break the game or your save…but YOU WILL lose your item. For now, *DO NOT SCRAP. STORE IT.*
Unable to get DECORATIONS > OCDECORATOR icon to update from a painting icon.
Need to fix missing Alternate Textures on a handful of the objects. I have marked them with * and left a description note.
Need to fix Z position on multiple models. They snap below surface. (Temporary Fix: use “modpos z +1” in console)
End Goal
I intend to provide a static option for almost every item that you can pickup and drop from your inventory.
Planned Categories
Weapons -Base weapons only. No unique weapons or customized weapons. Making them static, at this point-in-time, will render them useless.
Armor – Same restrictions as weapons. Really want to do hats and helmets. They have always made great display pieces.
Medicinal(Chemistry?) – Drugs, Meds, Beakers, Chemistry Items, etc.
Food – All food types. Maybe a [RADS] food sub-category?
Beverages(food sub-cat?) – Nuka, Beer, Alcohols,
Workshop – Tools and Industrial Parts. May need to split into two categories depending on the quantity.
Office Supplies – Pencils, Pens, Desk Fans, Typewriters, etc.
Toiletries – Soap, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Hairbrush, etc.
Living/Bedroom STUFF – Pillows, Small Picture Frames, ?
Sports Gear – Items dealing with Pool, Bowling, Baseball, etc.
Junk Drawer – Basically what you would put into your real houses junk drawers…old batteries, band-aids, a dried up rubber band.
I really want to add in more unique decor, like the red drapes from the memory lounge. There is LOTS of great stuff, Art work, signage, posters to use…but unfortunately, these are not objects that you can pickup, so they do not fit into this Mod. I might branch OCDecorator into another mod, if I get bored, but I would rather leave this to the Homemaker Author (NovaCoru) or SSex Author (TroyIrving).
Compatibility
I use this mod in conjunction with the following settlement building mods, without any problems:
Homemaker – Read “installation” section for suggested load order
Safe SSex
Simple Intersection
If you have any compatibility issues, please let me know and I will update the list.
OCD Recommendations
Reddit Console commands tutorial[/u] – Console commands for object movement and manipulation. If you are patient, you can make some pretty cool looking stuff.
Precise object moving and rotating – This is a script for AutoHotkey and it was a game changer for me. It uses the same commands that were provided in the Reddit tutorial but does it at a much quicker rate. It’s key layout is very easy to learn and it WORKS.
Place in Red – Track this mod and hope he gets a working esp version up soon. I have used the “CheatEngine” version of this and it can easily place objects “Into the Red”, as promised but I cannot recommend anyone install CheatEngine for any mod.
